From TEAM Jaffrey

Despite the absence of snow, twenty spirited downtown Jaffrey businesses have Decked the Halls to welcome visitors, shoppers, and lovers of all things local to shift their shopping this holiday season. TEAM Jaffrey, an independent non profit devoted to enhancing, improving, and revitalizing downtown Jaffrey, is holding a “Holiday Display Contest” for downtown businesses and organizations in the hopes of welcoming more patrons and visitors to experience and support local, family-owned businesses.

Visitors from near and far are invited to visit, view, and vote for their favorite display of the season including display entries of windows, lobbies, and exteriors. Votes will be counted through December 22nd, and the winner will be announced just before Christmas.  The displays will be up through January 1st, 2016 for all to enjoy.

Folks may vote by paper ballot in person at Jaffrey Public Library, TD Bank, and People’s United Bank or vote via Facebook.

December is the month to hear local community bands and choruses for their annual seasonal concerts.  The genres and programs showcase the variety of musical offerings in the Monadnock region – from Renaissance and popular to multicultural and barbershop. If you have been thinking of making music yourself, a concert or two could be your springboard to a New Year’s resolution – some require auditions to join, others a voice placement, and many welcome musicians of all experience and abilities.

From the Westmoreland Lions Club

The Westmoreland Lions Club is bringing back “Home for the Holidays,” the local holiday shopping event started by Missy Blanchard in 2013. This one day event offers holiday gifts, decorations, food items, and gift certificates from Westmoreland and area businesses, farms, and groups.

This event is intended to help Westmorelanders remember to think locally for our purchasing and service needs.
